Retrieve Previously Watched Video from Browser Cache and Save

After watching a video in a Web site, you may want to save the video file into your local disk for playing it offline in the future. The video file is stored in your browser’s cache and the following tips can help you to extract the video file from the cache and save it for watching it in the future.

VideoCacheView automatically scans the entire cache of Internet Explorer and Mozilla-based Web browsers (Including Firefox) and finds all video files that are currently stored in it. It allows you to easily copy the cached video files into another folder for renaming/playing/watching them in the future. These are most flv and mp4 files so you need an appropriate video player.

Saving & Retrieving Buffered Videos Manually from Browser Cache

For Firefox : Go to your browser’s "Disk Cache" Folder. If you don’t know where it is, type about:cache in address bar press enter. Now go to the "Disk cache device" folder path (see pic below). You can also create a shortcut with this path if you like.

For eg : C:\Documents and Settings\websoftera\Local Settings\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\websoft.default\Cache

Now use "Arrange Icons By / Group By" "Size". This will let you easily find the larger files.

Now simply add all of them in VLC Playlist and play through till you find the video you want to save. Note, not all large files are videos.

I hope these two ways are good enough for saving and retrieving videos from your browser cache. This is necessary as users can’t download videos from youtube any more hence are good way would be to load and buffer it in the broweser and saving it later from the cache.
